Well this is her and Alex. Aren’t they cute together? Seriously, AMAZING couple. We had some fun photographing at an Orchard in Kaysville, and then a random field that we found. I could die of gorgeous overload with these two. And they know how to work a camera! My favorite though? The way he looks at her. Speechless.

We went and hung out at the Garden Park Ward in Salt Lake, and that is a FANTASTIC place! I’d never been there before, so it was fun to try a new location!

You hear it all the time.
“Whatever doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger”
What makes you stronger?
I believe it’s the knowledge that we learn from that experience. It will either prevent us from making some of the same mistakes again, or it will give us insight on how to fight something better.

And no one is ever done learning.
Seriously, have you ever run into someone who said they had learned everything that they could, and they are just.done.learning?

I didn’t think so.

Everyone is learning, or gaining new knowledge.
My 3 year old is learning new things every day and soaks things up like a sponge.
My hubby is learning new things in his job, and learning how to put up with me. Yes..still. After 10 years.
I am still learning. I am learning how to be a better wife, how to be a better mother (trust me..that is DEFINITELY an ongoing process), learning how to be a better photographer, learning how to be a better cook, etc.

Do you ever feel SO overwhelmed with everything there is to learn?
Sometimes my brain feels like it is on overload.
But I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Sometimes I wish that I could learn like my son does. He soaks everything up. He has to try everything once.
And NOTHING.IS.IMPOSSIBLE.
EVERYTHING is worth trying for. He hasn’t had the negative knowledge, and I hope I can keep it that way for him.
Keep his dreams going.
Bring back some of my dreams.
And.keep.learning.

Light

I would have written this sooner, but I was down with the flu and couldn’t sit at my computer the end of last week.
Awful, awful stuff the flu. Yuck.

Anyway. Light.
EVERYONE is searching for light. You hear it all the time. “There’s a light at the end of the tunnel!” or “I see a silver lining here”.
Everyone gets happy when it’s a day of sunshine.
Light makes me. It makes me happy.
Light is happiness.
I have many rays of light in my life. My husband, my son, my parents, my siblings, my friends, my photography.
They make me happy.
I thrive on light.

There was a time, where this little light inside me, almost went out.
I didn’t feel. I didn’t care. I didn’t want to do anything. I didn’t pay attention to what was going on.
People would look at me and ask where my light went.
And I would just laugh.
But deep down, I wondered where that light was.

It took some time to get that light back. Some serious soul searching, some serious discussions.
I had individuals in my life that were shining their light in for me to see enough to find my light, and increase it.

Now, I SEARCH for it. In EVERYTHING.
Everything has light. My husband and son are my STRONGEST points of light.
I am a spiritual person, and try to find the light and goodness in everything.And believe that EVERYTHING has it.

My son is a ball of light that is trapped inside a little body. He is always happy, smiling, playing, having fun.

The good thing about light, is if yours is a little dim, you can work on building that light. But while you are building it, you can still see the way with the light of others.

I notice it in my photography. My photography has more light in it now. That is the style that I go for. Because it has such a strong meaning. It helps me portray MYSELF into those images.

I encourage you to find the light in whatever you are doing.
And find the LIGHT in YOU, and

LET.IT.SHINE.

Romance

Who doesn’t like the romantic movies where boy gets girl, and everything seems happy in the world?

My personal favorite is Pride and Prejudice.
I could watch that movie every.single.day.

I’ve been putting a lot of thought onto this word, and what it means to me this last week.
you know…being Valentine’s Day and all.

Here is what Wiki says about Romance:

Romance is the pleasurable feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love.

In the context of romantic love relationships, romance usually implies an expression of one’s love, or one’s deep emotional desires to connect with another person.

Historically, the term “romance” originates with the medieval ideal of chivalry

To me, romance is more than just a kiss, or a feeling, or desire.
It’s being able to KNOW that they love you.

I have been married to my husband for 9 1/2 years now.
He STILL opens the door for me. Not just the door to a building, but to the car. He let’s me into the car, and he gets me out of the car.
Some friends saw him help me out of the car and asked: “Does he always do that for you? Or is he just trying to impress us?”
No, he always does. Even if no one is watching.
That’s romance to me.

Grabbing my hand in the middle of a crowd so I don’t get lost.
Wrapping his arms around me when I’m doing dishes. Just to tell me how much he appreciates me.
Filling up my water bottle in the morning when he leaves for work, so I can have cold water.
Seeing the look on his face, as I look myself over in the mirror for the hundredth time to make sure I look ok. The look always says “you’re beautiful.”
Driving me places, even though I know he would rather be doing something else.
Setting up back rubs for me when he knows I’ve had a particularly long day.
Putting his hand against the small of my back to let me know that he.is.always.there.
encouraging me to grasp hold of my dreams, and to not let go.
Calling me on EVERY.SINGLE.BREAK he has at work, just to tell me he loves me.

I’ve given him a run for his money.
I really have.
And yet, he has stuck by me.
Through E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G.

That’s Romance to me.
Loving someone so much, that all the little things are important.

I love capturing these little moments in my photography. Engagement Sessions and Weddings are my ABSOLUTE favorite things to photograph. Capturing the little things that speak Romance. Yes, this includes the kisses, the hugs, the looks, the touches. The little things.

She did AMAZING. I swear, I would get my hair cut EVERY week, JUST for the shampoo and head massage.

I couldn’t get over how stunning she was. So I made a date with her to take her pictures.

Tell me, is she not absolutely STUNNING?!
